My name is Arthur Marnett, East Coast Dog Trainer. I have dedicated myself to making dog training my life's career.  Over time, I have refined my knowledge, honed my abilities, and expanded my skill set because each dog requires a tailored approach.

At East Coast Dog Trainer, it's not just training, it's personal. You get me, one trainer with one mission: to make sure your dog reaches their full potential. Ditch the one-size-fits-all franchise approach — I offer tailor-made training strategies that cater to your dog's distinctive traits, ensuring skills that stick well beyond our private lessons and board and train.

I specialize in training family dogs to listen to basic commands, basic manners, and to stop bad habits.

Basic Commands - Sit (implied stay), Down (implied stay), Recall (Come) to you off leash when called, Go to Place (Dog Bed, park bench, and a wide array of elevated surfaces) Crate (Go inside their crate), Load up (Loading and traveling in a vehicle) Heel (Staying at your side at any pace) go Inside & Outside on command (, Free Dog (Release command) and Quiet on command

Teaching Basic Manners - Not to jump on people, Quiet down on command, Housebreaking/ Crate Training, On / Off of furniture (If desired), Waiting at all thresholds (Car doors, house doors, etc), and more.

Fixing Bad Habits -  Barking, Jumping, Reactivity, Leash pulling, Resource guarding, Bolting through doors, and Separation Anxiety/fear-related issues. These are just a few of the many issues that will be addressed during training.

Puppy Training &
In-Home Private Lessons

This training focuses exclusively on puppies (16 weeks to 24 months old), addressing their unique needs and challenges. Starting early with puppies is crucial, as it lays the foundation for a well-behaved adult dog. Remember, the earlier you begin, the easier it is for your puppy to learn and grow into a well-mannered companion.

"

We went with East Coast Dog Trainer (Arthur Marnett) and we would highly recommend him. We had some specific issues that we needed addressed. Our six month old black lab Cooper was demand barking when he wanted to play or when he wanted to eat. He was very loud and very constant. He also had a time schedule that was not conducive to his parents, like 4 AM he wanted to go out and then be fed. Arthur broke him of both of those bad behaviors. He also taught him the basic commands plus others that made a very special puppy when he returned to us. With Arthur’s help he also trained us to continue all the good work he accomplished with Cooper. We are so happy that we found East Coast Dog Training and you will, too, you won’t be disappointed!

The success or failure of any training program comes down to a few key areas.

1.  The character, skill, and ability of the trainer.

2.  The approach and method of training.

3.  Consistency and problem-solving.

4.  Quality of instruction you receive and follow up support

It is my responsibility to prove to you I can help you with YOUR dog and YOUR situation.

Training Your Dog is a Balance of Love and Discipline.

AdobeStock_266921676.jpeg

There is no one size fits all approach to dog training.  No method is truly better than another.  All have advantages and disadvantages and the key element is determining the proper approach to get you and your dog to the finish line.

Every dog, owner, situation, issue and problem is different.  The correct solution may be a combination of food training, marker training, leash and training collar, pressure / release or remote collar training to work through, rehabilitate, train and teach new skills & abilities.  I promise to use the approach that works for you and your dog.  Normally it is a combination of approaches that yields the best outcome.  I do my best to balance the advantages of each style to help your dog learn how to behave in order to have the freedom and fun that both of you want.
